So here's a question:
Given the "mixed" history of Christianity, both flaws and stars, do we, when dicussing faith with those who bring up the flaws, immediately
a: Run for our lives, there is no answer to the sinfulness of the historical church
b: Make our case by telling of the hospitals, orphanages, water systems, etc tht also flow from Christianity's history
c: Point out that the problem of sin doesn't go away in christians, that's why its called the "problem" with sin
d: Convert to atheism or agnosticism since they've checkmated you
e: ____________________ (your response/solution)

My first thought is C. I might have to think on that though...
acknowledge the flaws, listen to the people pointing them out, and then mention that thank God we are saved or else we would be far worse. But by hearing the flaws, we then know how to plant our seeds in the future in that person.

kinda a c plus e acknowlege the sin the mistakes and talk about what Christ gave as a picture...feed the hungry... pray for your enemies...love your neighbor as yourself....cloth the naked...take care of the least 'uns
own up to the problems of the group, but don't let them place the blame on you. i didn't start the crusades or help institute slavery, i'm only 19! but don't don't don't don't dismiss them as "oh, everyone messes up sometimes." that's lame, and we have to own up to the problems as big as they are, not problems as small as we want them to be.
oh, yeah, and then clarify that that's NOT what God had in mind for the church. that's important.
nah frying is mad fun
