  • Here's a "way of saying" how we humans catagorize people:  We allow folks we meet to "ride" (in our minds) in either First Class or in Coach.  Some folks may even have a Baggage Compartment where they mentally "file" certain people.  Our First class folks get good treatment from us, even if they fail us.  Our Coach folks are on a less generous and Jesus-like plan.  We'll treat them well when it's in our best interest.  And when they fail us, we keep track.  The Baggage Compartment is for those folks who we can ignore, or do worse to, even if they're in required proximity (workplace, family, school, church, etc.).

What happens to someone who is really trying to keep everyone in his First Class (as you may have been trying to do), while his "passengers" are not committed to keep him in their First Class (as you may have experienced)?

For me, the motivating factor is this:  Christ has put us permenantly in His First Class, even though in many ways we weren't even worthy of the Baggage compartment.  He has lavished on me love beyond reason.

  • I love that analogy. I'm printing that out to bring to church wednesday night.

Another facade to this is how we don't treat Jesus as a first class or even coach passenger most of the time. I mean, if you think of life as the "train," then Christ should be conducting, but how many of us let him?

  • ^ What he said. That's a really good analogy...

  • It's a good analogy, but lacking in several areas. Mainly, how the brain actually works. There are many more aspects that were completely left out. One is, the way our body chemically reacts to general stimuli from our immediate enviroment, such as family, workplace, etc. For each person, our brain produces chemicals which flood our body. The impending results can be good or bad depending on your thought process and feelings to the person. The feelings are a result of memory entirely. If you remember only the bad, as is the case in most people of today's society (I hate pessimisim), then harmful protiens will be manufactured by the most advanced pharmacuetical lab in the world. The . Everything going on in our body relies on thought process, truly. Our emotions, choices, and actions are all a direct result of how each induvidual thinks. If you are impaired from say, a mental disorder, then reality and fantasy (that which is created by your head) blend. Now that I'm way off topic, and completely lost as to what I was saying, I'll shut up now before I enter into how smoking may be a pre-disposition to intrcerebral hemorhaging and/or thrombosis...

  • Neuroscience is amazing to me, sorry.

  • That's definatley a different way of looking at it.

  • Wow...amazing reply. Bravo. Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic for once. You just dived deeper than most I've talked to are willing to go. Thank you for your thoughts, and I look forward to this again.

  • Actually, I'm still home. We're not leaving til July 12th-ish.

  • It's me, Ghotterdamerung. I changed my name.

  • I am indeed still interested. When you have the time, it would be greatly appreciated. For all my understanidng, I just can't seem to grasp it, so any insight is very welcome.

Sorry, but when I shut down Ghotterdamerung, I forgot to save them.

  • what happens when, in your scenario, you try to let someone into first class, but the passenger repeatedly does things that make you want to just throw them out of the plane?  should you still let them into first class even though you are worried about hurting them? or is it better to leave them in baggage?  they get hurt both ways, but which is worse?  ignoring someone, or pretending to be their friend?

  • Wow, you're famous. Lol

  • What if you want to let someone into first class but they seem to want to stay in baggage or even jump off the plane entirely? Should you repeatedly extend invitations and hope that one of those invitations will actually be accepted instead of ignored? My passengers might not only not want me in their first class but not want to have anything to do with my first class either. How long and hard should I try to get ppl to not only be in my first class but actually want me to stay in theirs?

  • thanks pastor D, i think i already knew what you told me.  i just had to hear it from someone else. oh and about the art...i will still be taking as many art classes as i can manage...i just won't have enough for it to qualify as a major or minor.

  • the way I get it, is that we got free tickets to first class, bought and already paid for with a bigger price than any of us could afford.  It would seem that knowing it is the One real ride we would enjoy, no holds were barred in giving us those tickets.... but as it is in some cases... some of those tickets were not picked up, and I am afraid that some of the seats will be empty, when departure time comes....

As for us wanting to leave early... amid the flight or the low cruise around earth...From what I understand, it says no man can pluck us from His hand.... but nothing is said about how we can walk away of our own accord...(kind of like running for a quick snack to make us feel good before we get on the airplane... cuz we aren't really sure there will be any food served....... and we miss our flight)  I hope this doesn't happen to me..  To get so distracted... I don't hear  or miss hearing the boarding call....

  • Just wanted to make sure things are ok with you.

    Heather

  • Ok, you are well known. Though I'm not the type to comment or chat with pastors of the christian faith...
