  • Changes, Changes, Changes

This is a year for change for Anna and I.

We gave away our precious daughter, Laura, in marriage back in March.

Our son Evan graduated from high school, and is now moving to Corvallis, OR for OSU and the navy’s ROTC program.

Our eldest daughter (and son in law) will bring out into the open our first grandchild (a girl!!) in mid-november.

So we are now adjusting to a household of 3.  Leah has her driver’s license, a job, and her junior year to deal with.  And now, no siblings around.

What a JOY to see our kiddos growing up and out into the world.  What a blessing they’ve been to us!!  And what a blessing we believe they’ll continue to be as they make their marks on God’s world, and in God’s kingdom.

  • Yeah, I’m back home in Georgia. I’m looking for a job here, but I don’t know how much demand there will be for a BA in English out in the middle of nowhere. I also got stupid and never learned to drive (partially b/c of high gas prices and partially because of fear) so that’s a factor. Mom tells me not to worry about that every time I bring it up; perhaps we’re both good at not doing things we don’t want to do. Still, I can’t believe that not having mobility won’t affect my chances of getting a decent job. Congrats on all the good changes in your life; I”m not really big on change right now myself, but I guess I’ll get over that in time.

  • No, I can’t use the “second born” excuse. I’m the first born (although my brother, the second born, is waiting until he’s 18 so he doesn’t have to deal with a lot of the extra stuff you have to do when you’re younger to get a license) but I don’t like driving, can’t afford a car, and never felt like paying ever-increasing gas prices to learn to do something in which I couldn’t see an immediate benefit. I live in a rural community about 45 miles south of Augusta. There aren’t many opportunities here, but without a car, and with gas being what it is….
